Default Alberta Insurance

Hello,

I was wondering if any of you have been denied full coverage for insurance. My company only offers liability for RHD cars. Does anyone know an insurance company that does full coverage?

Johnson inc and TD Meloche Monex have both quoted me for full coverage on my Delica with no problems, in fact the girl at Meloche Monex sounded like she could hardly contain her excitement about the "cool" vehicle. (my current insurance is with Johnson Inc, I don't have full coverage, however I do have theft/fire/vandalism in addition to the mandatory PLPD)

Both AMA and Canadian Direct also quoted me for full coverage, AMA was about double the cost that I pay with Johnson Inc, and Canadian Direct was very difficult to deal with and came out at nearly FOUR TIMES the price of Johnson Inc.

Also, although this isn't directly what you were talking about, it is related. Just a reminder to everyone in Alberta:
It is illegal in the province of Alberta for an insurance company to deny you PLPD (liability) coverage for any reason other than non-payment. Several insurance companies have already been fined mega $$$ for breaking this law, if they try to deny you coverage let them know that they will likely be fined again (and that you will make sure it happens)

AMA told me that they only offer PLPD for RHD. I will have to shop around to see what else is out there. I think theft/fire/vandalism are the most important ones. Need to protect the new ride.

Unfortunately I do live in fort Mcnewf. Not too many places up here for insurance. Thanks for the help!

4 years ago AMA denied me ANY coverage whatsoever, Dominion of Canada is giving me a super cheap rate for PLPD/fire, theft, vandalism.
